Original Safari Package Experience
The Kruger National Park is a vast wilderness area and is one of the few places left in Africa where you can get a real safari experience. This iconic destination is also ideal for a self-drive safari where time becomes immaterial and the wilderness becomes an adventure.
There are 2 guided drives included where an experienced guide will share secrets of the wilderness adding to the real Kruger safari experience feel. Few African wildlife safaris will provide as much flexibility as this Getting Back to Basics Kruger Park package.
Day 1: Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport to Kruger Park
Pick up your rental car at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport this morning for the 4 hour drive east to Kruger National Park. From the moment you arrive in Kruger Park your safari experience starts. You can already do some game viewing en-route to your Rest Camp.
You will be staying for the next 2 nights. Rest Camp accommodations are separate units called bungalows, basic, but clean and neat with self-catering facilities and air-conditioning.
Tonight you have a guided night drive booked with professional Kruger Park rangers to show you some of the more interesting nightlife in the park. Dinner is for your own account either at the restaurant or you can even prepare a meal at your bungalow.
Day 2: Rest Camp in Kruger National Park
The whole day is yours to explore Kruger National Park in your own time and you can decide in which direction you want to travel. Maybe stop at a lookout point or picnic site for lunch or visit one of the many Rest Camps you will find en-route.
It is recommended that you start the day early as game viewing is best in the mornings, or you can stock up on snacks at the shop and spend more time at a waterhole where you are sure to see some hippos and various other animals coming to quench their thirst.
Day 3: Depart Kruger National Park for Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport
To keep you rested for the drive back to Johannesburg later today, you have a guided safari included in your package this morning. Then you have time for brunch and still some game viewing travelling from the Rest Camp to the exit gate before heading in the direction of Johannesburg.
