Family Holiday Package Safari Experience
Why set off on a Great Trek North Package in Kruger Park? No doubt about it, the scenery in the northern regions is breathtaking and you can see all the big game as well as rare local species. Make your family holiday memorable and enjoy traditional bush activities and exceptional bird watching at this lovely lodge. Your kids will just love the elevated walkways and family tents!
Inbetween guided game drives, family fun and relaxation is at the order of the day where parents and children in Kruger can splash about in the pool and be spoiled by the friendly camp staff. Your family also has the opportunity to visit a nearby Makuleke village where the community and their traditional healer can take you on a voyage of discovery.
Day 1: Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport to Kruger Park
Your holiday package starts early with a 6 to 7 hour drive to the northern-most corner of the Kruger National Park where your family lodge is situated on the banks of the Luvuvhu River. On entering Kruger National Park at Pafuri Gate you will immediately be captivated by the majestic Baobab & Fever Tree Forests.
The area has expansive floodplains, extensive river frontage and the renowned Lanner’s Gorge which all add to the scenic diversity of this area.
Your family lodge is under the shade of enormous Ebony and Nyalaberry Trees. The tented family units have inter-leading rooms with en suite indoor and outdoor showers, all overlooking the river. The camp is child friendly with walkways elevated off the ground connecting the tents to the main lodge area.
The afternoon game drive includes a stop for sundowners and end with a night drive which is great fun for the children in Kruger Park as they get to spot nocturnal animals such as bush babies and maybe even a chameleon sleeping in a tree. Dinner will be served on the main lodge deck and special children’s meals are also available.
Day 2: Lodge in Kruger National Park
The early morning game drive is the best time for spotting wildlife as temperatures are still nice and cool. On return to the lodge a hearty breakfast awaits your family and the day unfolds with a special children’s walk in and around the camp as well as some baking in the kitchen with the chefs.
It is also possible to visit the Makuleke Village for a traditional meal, dancing and a session with the sangoma (traditional healer). An outing to Thulamela, a 500 year old rock walled civilization is also possible by prior arrangement.
The afternoon game drive is another exciting adventure with wildlife sightings, bird spotting and lots of information for the children in Kruger Park from their knowledgeable guide – then back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Depart Kruger National Park for Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport
Enjoy your last morning game drive on the final day of your Great Trek North family safari in Kruger National Park. Enjoy a delicious breakfast after you return from your morning game drive. Then its time to pack up and check out by 11h00 for the drive back to Johannesburg.
