Rocky coastlines and coastal islands, occasionally lagoons.
Immatures Crowned Cormorant are brown.
A marine version of the Reed Cormorant and recognised by its overall blacker appearance, permanent crest all year and shorter tail.
Fairly common resident.
Crowned Cormorant present along the coast from August to April in great numbers but individuals may be found throughout the year. Very rare inland.
