A brief history of Kruger Memorial.
Naturally, Paul Kruger is, himself, memorialised at the Park, both with the Kruger Monument (at the Kruger Gate)
, and the Kruger memorial tablet. The latter is to commemorate the foundation of Kruger Park, and reads: 'This tablet was erected by the National Park Board of Trustees to commemorate the institution of National Parks into the Union. Sabie Game Reserve proclaimed by President Kruger in 1898
. National Parks Act introduced by Mr PGW Grobler, Minister of Lands, in 1926.'
A further plaque, at Skukuza
, remembers those who are seen a the Founding Fathers of the park: James Stevenson-Hamilton, Paul Kruger and Piet Grobler.
