This September orchid growers and lovers will congregate in the lowveld, where the South African Orchid Council will be holding their national show. This is the first time that the show has been held in Mpumalanga, and it will be hosted by the Lowveld Orchid Group.

The national show is only held every three years, and attracts both local and international orchid enthusiasts. There will be a conference with local and international speakers, discussing issues such as trends in orchid hybridising and culture and propagating of orchids.

Schools will also be invited to the event, and learners will be able to learn more about the need to conserve South Africa's unique indigenous orchids.
