Representatives of the Honorary Rangers (Bushveld Region) and SANParks staff came together for a small ceremony at the Lapa at the Phalaborwa Staff Village in Kruger National Park last week to celebrate the reopening of the facility, made possible through funds collected by the Honorary Rangers. Accepting a cheque for R10,000, Ben van Eeden, Regional Manager, Northern Region, thanked the Honorary Rangers for their continued support and for the time and effort they had put into raising this substantial contribution.
Ben pledged that in future the newly-thatched lapa would be made available for the Honorary Rangers to use, as well as for SANParks staff functions and meetings. The Honorary Rangers Regional Chairman, Piet Andjelkovic was pleased that his team were able to help support the re-thatching of the building, enabling the popular venue to be placed in use again. He also thanked SANParks for allowing future Honorary Ranger monthly meetings to be held at the site.
