Your Camp Shawu Experience

The essence of Camp Shawu is based on one of Africa's most famous Elephants called 'Shawu.' This large bull had the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa. He roamed the valley for sixty years and was always a special sighting for visitors.

Camp Shawu is situated in a 15 000 hectare private concession of the Kruger National Park overlooking the Mpanamana Dam where many animals come down to drink throughout the day, so guests can experience excellent game viewing from the decks of this safari camp. There is a local pride of Lions which comes down to drink most nights.

Stay in one of 5 elegant rooms at Camp Shawu which can accommodate just ten guests allowing for an intimate safari experience. Guests staying at this safari camp in Kruger Park can look forward to participating in exciting game drives in search of Lion and the other Big Five, or just relax on their private deck, have a dip in the plunge pool and see what animals come down to drink.

Wildlife that are commonly seen in the area include Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Hippo, Crocodile, Buffalo and Giraffe. Head out and explore the region on self-drive game viewing excursions in the Kruger National Park or go bird watching and see the many species which occur.
