Suzanne Riezebos, a masters student in environmental sciences, of the University Wageningen in Holland, has joined the Kruger to Canyons Birding Route on a fourmonth internship programme as from the end of June 2008. Suzanne, 24 , originally completed a bachelors degree in international development studies. She is specialising in environmental policy and her thesis will focus on the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP) . She will focus on the institutional structure driving ecotourism and community participation. Suzanne’s internship with the Kruger to Canyons Birding Route will incorporate two community based projects - the setting up of an indigenous nursery to underpin a carbon footprint management project and the establishment of a community owned guiding company based at the Bollanatto Tourism Centre. Suzanne is based at the Bollanotto Tourism Centre on the main road to the Kruger National Park in Phalaborwa. |
