A common (25 mm) longhorn borer of our region - possibly of the genus Anubis or Promeces. A non-toxic species which looks similar to some of our blister beetles, it appears to favour Acacia exuvialis. The large (30 mm) and familiar (CMR) blister beetle common in this area. The warning colouration is mimicked by several, harmless longhorn beetles. Although they eat flowers they are beneficial to agriculture as they parasitize the egg pods of grasshopper The large (50 mm) Two-spotted ground beetle - Thermophilum homoplatum - which, among other species, is common in our region. They are active predators, often with warning colouration, which are capable of squirting formic acid or quinones.
