Vets for rural villagers

R100 million has been allocated to Mpumalanga for dams and irrigation schemes. According to Bua News, agriculture MEC Madala Masuku has said that some of this money will be used to build animal handling facilities and veterinary clinics for indigent communities.

The MEC noted that the occurrence of controlled decreases declined last year and this year, except for tuberculosis and brucellosis. Increased rabies vaccination has been carried out in high-risk areas. However, eggs, meat and livestock have been placed under surveillance after an outbreak of avian flu in the Eastern Cape and Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome in the Western Cape.
