SABC Education is now looking for other talented young South Africans to emulate Peace Mnisi. They are running a national competition where children must write their own story in any language about anything that is important to them, or any aspects of their lives and community.
When a winning story is chosen, the writer will help produce a short film, which he will also star in. The child's school will take part in the translation of the story into a film. The children will learn about scripts, shoots, editing and making a film.
The final production will be entered into the Ciak Junior competition in Italy, where South Africa has twice won the grand jury prize for best film. The competition closes on November 30, 2005. Entry forms are available at www.sabceducation.co.za
or by dialling 086 2222 005 from a fax phone.
A young boy from Acornhoek sprang to fame last year with the tale of 'Mbiya and his Cow', journeying to Italy to receive his prize in the Ciak international television competition.
